Laser resurfacing
The concept of resurfacing your skin seems simple enough — by removing the top layer, you allow healthy new skin to grow in its wake. The trick, however, is finding a method that causes the least amount of damage to your tissue, allowing your body to respond with a natural, non-traumatic response.
And that’s where laser technology comes in. At Bergen Aesthetics, we’re equipped with the state-of-the-art Laser-Cutera Pearl® laser, which allows us to target your skin with precision, not blunt force, as it gently emits energy into your tissue to destroy old, tired skin cells. After the treatment, your body sets to work to eliminate your old skin and, at the same time, it begins to rebuild new cells thanks to increased collagen production. Collagen is the main driver behind the elasticity and tone in your skin, so by signaling your body to produce more collagen, we’re able to create a fresh surface that’s far less marked by fine lines and wrinkles.
Laser resurfacing produces both immediate and gradual results as your body rebuilds new tissue. After just one or two in-office treatments, you’ll begin to notice the results in a few weeks, with optimal results in six weeks. Although there’s no downtime associated with the procedure, your face won’t be “camera-ready” for several days afterward because the laser therapy creates an effect much like a sunburn. With good at-home care, including cooling and moisturizing therapies, you’ll be glowing with renewed confidence in no time.
Botox®
Botox is arguably the grandfather of minimally invasive anti-aging efforts, having gained FDA approval in 2002 to temporarily reduce moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
Just think, every time you smile, squint, or furrow your brow, you’re contracting muscles in your face and, over time, these repeated contractions form visible lines on your skin. Botox, with onabotulinumtoxinA, goes straight to the source of these lines and temporarily paralyzes the muscles causing the wrinkles.
The trained technicians at Bergen Aesthetics have extensive experience with Botox injections, and they’re able to deliver results within days of your treatment. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment, allowing you to resume your normal activities right away. Botox treatments generally last up to four months and require follow-up injections to maintain your new, youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers
Injectable dermal fillers approach your facial wrinkles from a different angle — they fill in your lines with a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are great for addressing those “parentheses” that surround your mouth and deepen with age, the lines between your eyebrows, and the lines that form around your lips (in fact, fillers are used to plump your lips, giving you a fuller mouth).
At Bergen Aesthetics, we offer a filler called Restylane®, which has safely been in use since 1996. A member of our team of highly trained cosmetic specialists sits down with you to review the treatment, which may involve several injections and, together, you design a plan that best meets your goals. One of the greatest advantages of dermal fillers is that the results are immediate and last up to six months. Eventually, your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid, and you’ll need follow-up treatments to keep your wrinkles at bay.
Fractora® RF
Turning once again to laser technology, here at Bergen Aesthetics we’re equipped with Fractora, an instrument that uses fractional radiofrequency to resurface your skin, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Rather than a blanket destruction of your skin’s outer layer, the Fractora laser uses a fractional approach, which means it creates localized micro-lesions near the surface of your skin to destroy old skin cells and prompt your body to remodel your skin with increased collagen production. There’s no downtime after Fractora treatments, though you should take care to protect your treated skin. Over the weeks following treatment, you’ll see gradual improvement of your skin’s surface, with optimal results at six weeks.
To determine which option is best for you, please call us for a consultation. We believe that these minimally invasive approaches, which are long on results and short on risk and downtime, offer the best solutions to achieve younger, more vibrant, skin without resorting to surgical intervention.
