Constructed from cast-iron externally with a steel interior lining, the Sturmtiger barrel featured 32 vents to facilitate the escape of gases from the colossal shell. Capable of carrying 12 rounds, the loading of ammunition typically required the involvement of the entire crew due to the immense weight of each 38cm shell, which could reach 330kg (727lbs).
